In 1928, Le Carlton, a building designed by the architect and entrepreneur Joseph Abita, was the popular address in Tunis. Stars and reporters stay there or go for a drink at its American Bar.

Suzy Vernon, a great star of French theater and cinema, is welcomed at the Carlton Hotel during her performance at the Rossini Theater, now the municipal theater.

This photograph taken by Victor Sebag now hangs in large format in the hotel lobby, with another image of the Tunis theater whose rococo facade, a work of Resplandy architecture, bears the name of the star.
