The Central Market of Tunis
Located
at the intersection of Charles De Gaulle, Germany, and Spain streets, in the
modern city, at the gates of the Medina, and a 10-minute walk from the hotel,
the central market of Tunis is one of the most important commercial locations
in the downtown area. Built-in 1891, it consists of four buildings combining
Art Deco and Arabesque styles.
The
central market ("Fondouk el Ghalla") is full of fruits and
vegetables, meats and fish, spices, and dried fruits. Here, and in the
